I just bought these boots today, so this review is purely about the sizing and fit. I will update later after I've worn them a few times.

If you're like me, you read reviews and automatically don't think some of them apply to you. I read a few on these boots and they said they run about a size large. I shrugged it off and ordered my tried and true size 10's. After trying them on... I realized I should have listened to the reviews I'd read gotten a size smaller. I exchanged them for a size 9, and they fit MUCH better. So don't do what I did... order a size smaller.

The part around your calves are loose and easy to tuck your jeans or pants into. They would definitely fit people with larger calves.

This is a good boot. I've been wearing it quite a bit in this 2010-2011 New England winter season. It has enough room in the shoe area to fit an orthotic and a foot. The boot is closed by elastic loops on button. It can fit a pretty wide calf. My foot has stayed dry during every snow storm so far and generally doesn't overheat if worn inside for long periods. The snow melts off of the boot, there is no indication showing of any moisture being absorbed by the suede like material. It pulls on and off fairly easily.

I read some reviews mentioning that buyers found that they had bought a size too big, but I just didn't think that if I usually wear an 8.5,that I should go with an 8 instead of 9. And it's hard to rely on others saying what size they usually wear, since many shoes vary.

Well, I should have listened and gone with the 8, because the 9's are way too big, even after putting in extra insoles that I didn't cut down to size so that the extra would take up some of the room in the toes.

So, to help you out, my foot measures about 9.75 inches. If that's your measurement, don't make the same mistake go with an 8!!!

Other than that they are great! :-(

I have had 2 pair of this boots for about 4 years that is right 4 year they are amazing the soles are worn thin but are super comfortable. They look great and feel great my boot are beat up but they are the first thing that I garb to put on they are true to size and look good with jean or slacks. One the best shoe buys ever I love them! I am a big guy with a size 14 foot so I have to say that I was happy to find a dress boot that fit. The fit is prefect not to small are narrow and not to wide just right. I have walked and danced for hours in them they hold a nice shine when they are polished and are all most water proof. Great deal for great boot!

I read the pros and cons before buying. I appreciate these Amazon ratings and usually give more weight to the highest stars, ignoring many of the one-star comments because some people are simply difficult to please in this age in which we live. Now . . . .

my boots arrived and had the odor common to new shoes (like having the pleasing smell of a new car). The fit was nice and the convenience of the zippers is welcomed. Yes, I recommend these shoes for anyone wanting a nice dress boot.

I recently received my order, a pair of Giorgio Bruntini side zip dress boots. The price was less than $64.00, delivered, but they had been made in China and like so many things made in China, the quality left a lot to be desired. The leather was overly thick and stiff, there was no lining and the soles were composition, but for $64.00, they weren't a bad buy. They are nice looking and fit well. In the future, Amazon.com should state the country of origin to avoid these problems.

These boots are great looking, fit great, and walk well. I like the leather and the lining. They are comfortable to wear all day with orthotics and true to size and color. And the price is great.

However, the chemical they used in China to cure the leather (formaldehyde?) is strong and lasts more than two weeks. It's so bad that I put mine outside overnight over the weekend. I don't keep them in the closet with my suits because it will make them smell. I can even smell it when I'm wearing them if I'm in my office or sitting somewhere static like on a bus. I've had them almost a month and the smell is fading but not gone. The pull tab on the back is not too obtrusive, but it does catch the hem of my pants, so like other boots, I used my Leatherman to slice the tab off and now they don't catch.

Overall, I would give these five stars for everything except the smell. It better go away.

UPDATE: Three years later and the boots still smell some, permanently, even though I've cleaned them with baking soda and with vinegar. It is NOT the smell of leather, but rather what they spray treat them with so they don't mildew while being shipped across the ocean. You can't clean the leather on the inside.

Also, the cheap interior leather has worn through at the back above the heels. The sole is so thin you can feel rocks and pebbles when you step on them. They are what they are cheap, nice-looking boots made in China. I have since bought other boots the Sawyer from To Boot New York, and the Lacey from Johnston & Murphy. They are more expensive but much nicer.

I love the color it's pretty true to the photos. I found the boot to be great fitting and easily malleable for a quick break-in period. A few outings wearing thick socks was more than enough to break these in. Thanks!

It wasn't long after receiving my highly anticipated order of Allen Edmonds Amok tan suede boots, that my feeling of excitement, turned to to disappointment. I tried on the boots in the house and walked around, it felt a little snug. My feeling was that they are suede and will loosen up over time. I could't wait to wear my new boots out. The opportunity presented itself when my wife said that we had a function to attend. When the leather hit the concrete, that's when I felt how these boots were made. I instantly felt a pain in the footbed of my right foot , 3 inches from my small toe. I thought maybe a pebble had gotten into my boot. I took it off and inspected it. Everything looked fine, but the pain continued. I finally figured out that whatever was causing the pain was coming from beneath the footbed. Then the boots started squeaking every time I walked. Between the pain and the squeaking, I had to stop wearing them. I am so disappointed with these boots.

I ordered these chukkas about 4 weeks ago and instantly loved the look and feel of them on my feet. I had found the perfect unlined chukka boot! However, about 3 weeks later both heels started squeaking rather loudly when I walked. I went on-line and found similar reviews from others who had purchased these boots and soon discovered the squeaking flaw. So, I contacted Allen Edmonds about the issue and they told me to mail the boots in to them so they could take a look.

Once they received the boots, I got an email saying that they are a discontinued style and the only thing they could do was offer me an Allen Edmonds gift card for the amount I paid for the boots. Considering they don't currently offer a comparable model of chukka boot, this option isn't really appealing to me. It's just really disappointing that what I thought was a reputable shoe company would allow people to purchase these boots (albeit from a third party vendor), discover the serious flaw, and then tell them there is nothing they can do to fix it. Even though the boots were discounted, what I paid for them is no small amount. Offering a gift card when there is no comparable boot offered to replace them with isn't an acceptable option to me. Fix the freaking squeak and re-release the boot. What's the problem with that?

I was excited to see this shoe on Amazon at a sale price and in my size. The only problem is that they developed a squeak in the heel on one side almost immediately. Not crazy about having to send them to Allen Edmonds to get this fixed. I have read many reviews of Allen Edmonds shoes and I see this issue often. I may just risk having my local cobbler work on them. They are nice, though.

Very nice shoe. Works very well with jeans or with dress pants. The shoe sizes do run smaller than other brands. I usually wear a 9, but these had to be an 8.

I had been searching about for footwear similar to what I wore as a Historical Re-enactor but closer to a 1910's period men's work shoe. These were as close to what I wantedand I really like them.

I remember being a kid a HushPuppies where what everyone wore.

first...it took a while to get here...almost too long...though they told me this...the back of the shoes gave me blisters...so this make me hesitant to wear them...I thought the shoes would have bit thicker soles.
