These are very easily the best looking boots I've ever owned. They do look great in the product images, but the images honestly don't do them justice. I was also surprised at how well structured and constructed they are. They are definitely a heavy boot--even more so than Clark's chukka boots--but that's what I was hoping for. I will say that they do lean more casual, and would likely be difficult to work into any office outfits.

In terms of size, I'd say they do run about a half size big. I typically wear 10-11, ordered these in 10.5 and I'd probably have to return them for a size 10 if I weren't planning on wearing them with wool socks. With thick socks the 10.5 will work fine though.

Very happy with the purchase, and if you're looking for a solid, casual boot that you can hold on for years, I'd highly recommend these.

Excellent shoe from a brand name company. Received the shoes as promised and put them on to check the fit and comfort. These shoes passed in both tests. They look great and the leather is very soft.

I saw the Copelands at Union Station while in Washington, DC. These shoes are stunners! I literally stopped in my tracks. They are new to Johnston & Murphy and are beautiful on my feet! Such a rich and deep rust color! I haven't seen anything like them although suede oxfords and chukkas are on trend right now for men (especially ones with the high contrast sole and/or laces).

The J&M Copelands are deliciously comfortable and resist moist or wet pavement well with their rubber soles. Beware getting marks, scuffs and dirt on the suede (as you would with any suede garment or shoe) because the reddish/orange color is sheer perfection and nothing should distract from the inevitable attention these shoes have given me. I think they are great! Good arch/heel support and fits like a glove.

And it's good to see J&M branching out from the reputation of being somewhat stodgey and for "old" men. Although the cut is not ready to be worn with a suit -they still have a decidedly "American" style to the design -they are show-stoppers with a good pair of dark denim jeans, dressed up or down. No real complaints, but imagine a sleeker, narrower shoe in this color, with a lug sole for rain/ice/snow... THAT would get 5 stars.

This is usually more than I spend on a pair of shoes, but they are extremely worth it.

From the first moment I put them on I didn't want to take them off they are so comfortable. Other reviewers talked about having to break them in first or having the center stitch hurt their foot, I have found neither of those to be true.

The only knock I have on them is that the bottoms are light in color, which doesn't make sense to me. The bottoms don't take long to get black with dirt.

Overall, great shoe. They look great with jeans or khakis. They are incredibly comfortable. Worth the money.

I bought these and almost returned them because I had a hard time adjusting to the middle seam, but it's hard to return something that you always get compliments on. Each time I wear them someone asks what they are and where I bought them, which makes you feel better about the purchase. They have no arch support, so great for flat foots, but I had to buy an aftermarket insole. They seem like they will be very durable as the leather is high quality and the sole is sewed on and not glued.

I've had these for a little over a week (the brown Barbour Boot in size 9w), and so far, I've gotten tons of compliments on them. They seem to run about a half size bigger than than usual though. Example, I wear a size 10 in puma running shoes, a size 9 for most dress shoes (Bass) and boots, and these 9's fit closer to a 9.5. I wear them all day at work with no problems.

Always a bit of a challenge buying shoes online, but these fit. They are a wee bit narrow, which was fine for me. The front and back of the boot are polished and the rest is matt, which I thing looks nice. They are comfortable, although I do not do a ton of walking in them (I change shoes for my walking commute). The quality seems quite good (made in India). The uppers are leather with a good grippy rubber sole. I would definitely purchase these again.

These shoes fit well, but I had to return them because after just a week, they had covered my office floor (linoleum) with scuff/skid marks. Custodial staff gave me a hard time and had to bring in a machine to clean the floor.

I also noticed that the heel had worn appreciably in that time as well.

No bootstrap on rear of shoe made putting them on a bit tedious.

These boots are awesome. Very comfortable and look fantastic, wear with jeans and your classy and rugged. In regards to size, make sure you order a size down, because they do run big. I wear an 11 sneaker and wear a 10 for the boot, I could probably go down to a 9.5. Secondly, they are suede and therefore do get dirty very quickly and easily. If you are the type of person who has to have that "fresh" look than I would recommend you go with a darker color than sand. I've found that with a brush and some proper cleaning technique they can retain their luster. One thing I do wish I had done before wearing them out is to put some suede protector spray on them. Desert Boots and Chukka's have quickly become one of the most popular style of boots over the last couple of years. There are literally hundreds of different options out there if your looking for this style boot and the prices can range from roughly $50 all the way up to $400 dollars. With that being said, Clarks Original Desert Boot is easily one of the best of the bunch especially when it comes to getting the most bang for your buck.

I absolutely love this style boot and have over 15 pairs sitting in my closet from companies such as J.Crew, Johnston & Murphy, Frye, Diesel, John Varvatos, Red Wing, Bed:Stu, Original Penguin etc. Out of all the companies I have purchased this style boot from, there are really two that stand out more than the others in regards to getting the most bang for your buck. Those two are Clarks and J.Crew. Both make high quality boots and both keep things simple in regards to the design and that is exactly how I prefer them.

Clarks Original Desert Boot is really the epitome of simple design. No flashy cuts of leather, no funky patina's, just a clean design using classic colors and high quality full grain leather or suede. If you think these are comfortable when you first try them on, wait until you have had a pair for 6 months. These boots become like butter on your feet. In all honesty, that is one of the greatest aspects to this style of boot, they break in and become one of the most comfortable pairs of boots you have ever worn. Out of all the boots I own, its my broken in Chukka's and Desert Boots that are the most comfortable. Some of my Clark Desert Boots are over 4 years old and they are still in amazing shape. In fact, as I stated in regards to comfort, they only getter better with age. If you take proper care of them they will last a very long time.

Bottom line Again there are now hundreds of choices out there for this style boot but very few can match Clarks Desert Boots especially when you consider the price. These are easily one of the best deals out there in regards to mens footwear. If your late to the Chukka/Desert Boot game then what are you waiting for? Every man should have at least a couple pairs in his closet. Clarks Desert Boot is a perfect place to start. The Taupe Suede & Brown Suede are the 2 that I recommend the most. They go with practically everything.

I was amazed how comfortable these shoes were right out of the box! I tried them on carpet at first and they felt great, but when I went on my hardwood floors I could really appreciate the rubber gum soles that have made these desert boots so very popular all these years. They feel wonderful on your feet and one can match them with almost anything, from blue jeans to chinos.

I normally wear a size 10 but went with a size 9-1/2 and they fit perfect! I did have the chance to try on a size 10 on sale at Macy's last weekend before these had arrived and they were big on me so I was happy when the size 9-1/2 arrived today and the fit was perfect, so be sure and order one size down as they DO RUN LARGE.

I am sure I will be ordering another pair soon!

Really like the look of these boots, but the comfort is not what I have come to expect from Clarks products. The laces do not go high enough up the ankle to secure your foot in place and, for me, if I tie them tightly where the eyelets are, the boots hurt the top of my feet. If I don't tie the laces very tightly, my foot slips around in the heel, gets irritated and blisters. Can not recommend this shoe.

I was very skeptical about wearing moccasins I will admit. My wife talked into finally getting them and let me tell you they are amazing. I don't usually write reviews. They are by far the most comfortable "shoe" I've ever worn. It's like walking on a pillow. You can wear them with it without socks. I prefer without for more of the freedom. The sides are soft they get even better the more you wear them. Now that I own them I realize how many people of all walks of life wear them. They are comfortable bottom line and you can wear them with almost anything. I hope this helps convince the non believers like myself. Putting my moccasins on as I type this.

Worn only once so far. Really nice looking shoe out of the box. Really like the suede leather mix. Very light weight and comfortable. My narrow feet could have possibly taken a half size smaller than normal. I put pads in and fit was much better. My only concern is that the leather creased almost immediately so I am not sure what these will look like after considerable wear. Leather certainly doesn't seem super high quality. It is very thin. But then again for $75 I can't expect more. Other shoes I looked at with similar appeal were in the $120 $250 range. Even if I get one season from these I will be satisfied. Well worth the money.

They are worth the expensive price bc they do last until my child grows out of them; most shoes break off before this happens if the child is active.
