I have been wearing Red Wing shoes and boots for about 35 years. I bought these to replace a Red Wing chukka, Model 4101, sized 14D, of which I have had three pairs. These older chukkas fit me perfectly. My foot used to measure 13 3/4 and a D width on one of those metal measuring calipers.
The Voyager in a 14D is a little short. I would say that if you need a 13 1/2 this might be a good fit. The Euro size says 48, but I would say it is a 47.
I also find the D width is a little narrow, perhaps in proportion to the shortened length. I am wearing heavy wool socks, as I do every day. The toe box seems to have slightly less vertical space as well, although this might prove to be acceptable if I were to spend more time in the shoes.
Below the cushion insert, the cushioning of the footbed under the ball of the foot is improved -firmly supportive but yielding. The heel bed, below the cushion insert, is outstanding for cushioning, again firmly supportive. This a big improvement over my older version. In addition, the sole now has a cushion mid-layer, which is again a notable improvement.
The tongue is now cushioned, and I would say somewhat excessively and unnecessarily. The tongue bellows appear to be cordura but otherwise adequate.
The top side leather seems quite decent. The cut around the instep is adequate, but definitely not as well fitting as my older pairs which would nicely lap the tongue from each side.
The inside is mostly leather lined, as opposed to the cambrelle fabric in my older pairs.
The scree padding is perhaps more than needed for urban trekking, but is not uncomfortable. In winter I might like it for keeping snow out.
The sole has moderate tread depth an a relatively wide tread pattern. It will not pick up pebbles but will likely hold mud in the grooves. It seems sliighty more stiff than my old pairs, but still quite flexible enough for steady walking at a brisk pace.
If these were availabe in a 15 EE I would order them.

I purchased this shoe to wear everyday whether working, hiking or playing. It took about 5 miles of light hiking to break in for a near perfect fit. They are now very comfortable and I wear them all day. They seem to be well made and have adequate support. I generally walk 3 to 5 miles a day and am on my feet on concrete floors a good part of the work day. I've been looking for a multipurpose shoe and think I've finally found them in this Irish Setter chukka. They fit as expected and I would recommend them to anyone that wants a good "everyday" shoe. The only slight disappointment was when I wore them on an 8 mile hike throught very rocky terrain; in this venue they lacked the support and traction necessary to navigate the rough trail. I will stick with my hiking boots for the rough stuff but the rest of the time these chukkas are my shoe of choice.
