The boots came in very cold weather and at first I thought they would be stiff and inflexible. But once I laced up and began wearing them they softened up a bit. They are very comfortable. I thought I would have a little extra room in the 9 but it is a good fit. Though they are a bit narrow. They look good on my feet and have a nice distressed look that I was looking for. I would recommend

I just love these boots in every way: they're pretty, warm, seem relatively waterproof...and would make my size 11 foot look small....if only I could get into them! It was IMPOSSIBLE for me to get either of my feet into the boots, so with much regret, I must return them. Better luck to another!

The only drawback is that they are very difficult to be put on. I have a thin leg but however I have problems. It is nearly impossible to add a thick sock, it makes it impossible to get the leg in...But after that, they keep very very warm, are waterproof and look fantastic.

When I boot these boots, I like the style, look and mid thigh length. Unfortunately, like other reviews you can't get your freakin foot in it. I was so disappointed. I tried several times with my socks on and even tried to unbuckle the back tabs (no help), still could not get them on. Then I took off my sock and it still took several minutes to get them on. Once on, they are very comfortable and warm, and the shoe does not make your feet look bigger and true to size with a little wiggle room. But I am returning them due to the inability to put them on with or without socks. Hopefully they would fix this.

Since I purchased these "Chukka's" I have been VERY pleased with the comfort & their "lightness" feeeling on my feet. These remind me of the Hush Puppies I wore in High School back in the sixties. The well constructed soles make the difference in support & the eventual longevity of the boot itself. The suade boot is sooo soft & easy to clean. Looks great!!! These boots are now my favorite for "kick-around" with my jeans.I placed some orthotics in for support as well. Highly recommend! Thank you Hush Puppies for maintaining the standard that I knew you put forth back in the day.

I bought these shoes from HushPuppies when they went on sale. What a great price for a great shoe! The sizing is accurate I'm a 10 1/2, and these fit perfectly. I'm used to wearing shoes that lace up along more of the foot, so these took a little bit of getting used to. The trick was to not lace them up too tightly. They're still secure, but they feel like more of a loafer. The insole is not your standard cheapo useless piece of foam it actually provides a significant amount of support. I expect to get years of used out of these shoes.

I have had these boots for a month now. They are soft, extremely comfortable to wear and look good too.

Honest reviews on Hush Puppies Men's Hang Out Chukka Boot

Tried a 12 2E (wide) and a 11.5 2E. The boot seems to run true on size (length of foot), and even does a good job with width. Once my feet are in either pair (using thicker athletic socks no less), they feel pretty comfortable, almost as good as comfy Converse All-Star sneakers (Chucks), and about as flexible to walk in, no break-in required. The problem, as at least one other person has already said, is that the tongue is hinged too high up the shoe. This wouldn't be an issue on a shoe with a higher ceiling (vertically wider), but combined with the very nice, vertically slim appearance at the midfoot-to-toes, it makes it harder to put the shoe on (especially if you're like me who likes to have some sock allowance around his toes). Hush Puppies could bring the tongue hinge closer to the toes to drastically make it easier to put the shoe on without changing anything else about the shoe, but that does expose more of the laces, which some people don't want coming out the bottom of their pant legs. I need to find me a shoehorn to see if that helps, but otherwise I could probably wear the 11.5 or 12 wides equally well, and I'm normally an 11.5 2E in New Balance athletic shoe fit. These are definitely not slip-on-and-go shoes though.

Other notes: As I said, it's vertically slim, vertically slimmer even than Chucks. I don't know if it's just the wide size I got, but the toe area is a bit squared/wide-round instead of pointy like Chucks, Oxfords, Clark's desert boots. It looks like a boot from the top, but a shoe from the sides/front/back. The rust and taupe colors are a mix of smooth boot leather and suede so the colors look matte, and they don't look as saturated in color as the photos online. I'm waiting on the dark brown to come in to see how it looks, photos suggest it's closer to smooth leather and might shine up well for a bit more dressiness.

A couple reviewers said the bottom sole is shaped too horizontally narrow, but I think that's because they're really expecting a "boot" look; these are more sneakers/boot hybrids that blend boot style, and the bottom soles are actually a good fit if considering as a sneaker. What does stand out as a bit unusual is that the upper-to-bottomsole attachment is this lip that sticks out the sides, and since the bottom sole is as wide as the midsole, the lip sticks out. That combined with the sportier look of the bottomsole definitely lends this a casual look.

Build construction looks excellent, midsole is sewn onto the bottom, and I can't find a sign of glue or loose thread anywhere. The bottom sole is not quite sneaker rubber, it feels like a blend of rubber and a bit of plastic, but I think the point was to retain durability while making it lighter, at the expense of some grip. There's enough traction on even wood floors, but not as much as sneakers. That said, it's definitely not as rugged as runner/sneaker bottom sole, certainly not boot bottom sole, so be wary of putting a lot of miles in these, especially if you overor under-pronate a lot. I'd guess it'd be as long-lasting as a Clark's desert boot crepe bottom or a dress shoe bottom, good for walking around town and maybe the occasional jog to catch a bus or dance, but not really meant for running or hiking hard. About $110 MSRP and now $55 though, it's a good value.

The closest comparison I can make would be Clark's desert boots, but these are lighter and a bit sportier in look and in walking. About $20 cheaper than Clark's desert boots too. The Clark's and these would probably wear out the bottom sole first before falling apart anywhere else, and at their prices wouldn't be worth re-soling anyway, but I guess they'd both go for about as long, maybe 2-3 years depending on how much you rely on these as your go-to everyday wear.

I haven't weighed them, but the shoes somehow feel lighter than Chucks or Clark's desert boots, largely due to the bottom sole.

The insole can be completely removed, revealing about 0.75 inches in the heel and 1/3 inch in the foot area; you can probably leave the original insole and add heel pads or just replace the entire insole completely. Removing the insole reveals the bottom sole.

It's a nice shoe, something to wear about town or around the home, pretty much anywhere for errands or casual socializing, maybe even casual Fridays/smart casual, maybe to the park. Shame about the annoying bit about having too narrow an opening for inserting feet easily.

EDIT: I just went from the Chukka to Chucks and I exaggerated the comfort. Damn hard to beat the fit of a well-fitting and well-laced canvas Chuck, but these Chukkas are still pretty comfortable for a dressier (but still casual) shoe, especially one that looks much like a boot if you want the look. Plus the Chukkas *are* still leather and will still have room to break in and soften further, so they might eventually approach Chucks for comfort and flexibility.

This boot fit really well ONCE ITS ON. The shaft of the boot is somewhat floppy, narrow, and has zero stretch so if you have any issues with slightly wider feet this shoe gives no allowance. But as i said earlier after you get it on it's great and very comfortable even with quite a bit of time on your feet.

So my mom ordered these a 7 and a half her being a 7 usually and they didn't fit but they fit me because I have a very skinny foot. The length is correct but they are only gonna fit if you have a very skinny foot

I'm not easily sold on expensive and obscure fashion brands, so I was somewhat skeptical when ordering these, even with a great discount. Now that I've seen and worn them, I can say that I like them, but I wouldn't have paid full price for them. They don't have much cushioning, but I think that's typical of moc style boots. The outer sole isn't nearly as comfortable as the crepe soles found in Clarks Desert Boots, but it's still plenty adequate. Overall, they're quite comfortable, although I've yet to test them while walking long distances or even wearing a full day.

The leather laces are a little short, and although they seem like they might come untied, I haven't experienced it. My biggest complaint is with the burnished toes, which isn't mentioned in the description here and isn't very obvious in the pictures. I really dislike things made to look worn, because I prefer that look to come naturally, rather then manufactured. I think it looks cheap, but thankfully, it's not all that noticeable.

I'm not a shoe expert, but I believe these have a stitched welt, which tells me they'll likely last a long time. I'm not sure what to make of the suede, because the finish seems a little rough, but it does seem durable. Overall, they are comfortable, they look nice and I think I'll like them.

I'll wrap this up with the fit. I wear an 11D, although my second most common size is a 10.5D, so I ordered these in both sizes to get the right fit (I can do that, thanks to Amazon's generous return policy.) The 10.5D fit me great, so I didn't even bother trying out the 11D's I ordered. I've yet to wear them with boot socks, but I think they'll work fine, should I even want to wear a boot sock with them. However, if your second most common size is bigger, then I'd recommend sticking with your most common size. You might want to do that anyway, because they're somewhat narrow, although they're still probably wider then most mocs.

Highly recommended! Good padded footbed, good quality suede, for an updated chukka look. I love the non-crepe sole that feels sturdy, grippy and solid. Negatives are: marking on the suede (I would rather have marked the shoe up myself but would be a non-issue if I had gotten the darker colors) and eyelets that make that overlap when tied. Otherwise I highly recommend these shoes and look forwad to getting one of the darker colors if my size comes back in stock.

Slightly (1/2 size at most, I just wear thicker socks) large out of box, but great feel. Leather was nice, sole is not slick and I have not had any 'squeaking' issues. So far very impressed and if they wear well, these could be a regular purchase. I bought them for work (dress casual) during the wet and snowy season and so far very happy.

Bought these last year, they have held up great. Unlike the other reviewer I felt these actually run wide. It is worth noting that these are a city-style boot. They look great with jeans or khakis but I don't know if I would want to take them hiking. The grip is great for icy sidewalks but the lack of a more waffle-y bottom means that I wouldn't be bringing these on the A-trail anytime soon.

They are remarkably light. The moccasin style toebox looks sharp. Quality construction from hush puppies.

so i decided to buy these shoes because i didn't think my old desert style chukkas would last for the entirety of a long trip i'm about to take. They come laced inside out, which i don't like, but isn't a big issue to fix, they're fairly comfortable, but require more than a typical amount of breaking in, especially to get the true wide feel if you have wide feet. The leather is of good quality, and all the pieces are well put together. They're overall pretty comfortable, but the soles don't have a good grip, and squeak quite a bit.

Really nice pair of boots for a modest price. I was very pleased with the fit and finish of the shoes. I would recommend the boots to anyone. Great value.

I ordered the 14 W, and they fit like a 14 W. Wow! That's refreshing. They seem well made, and after a few weeks of wearing them, the soles seem like they are not going to peel away from the shoe—I tend to be rough on shoes. My only gripe is the quality of the shoe laces. I've had these less than a month, the cores of the laces are knotting up and it seems like they will pop any day now. Laces are not a deal killer for me—I will replace them with a quality set. --Cheers

First pair of Lugz and so far, totally happy with them. I usually wear a size 9.5 but ordered a 10 to make sure fit was no issue. Sizing seems to be correct in that this style of Lugz so I could have ordered a 9.5.

They're really comfortable and not as 'flat' as I thought they would be.... fair bit of cushion. They look great too! Would highly recommend.

I have a condition that makes the bones in my ankles disintegrate. I found a black pair in a store and they fit just right for my condition, so I bought this pair, a tan color, to have different colors for different outfits. They are very comfortable and I would recommend for anyone. Not just people like myself.
