These shoes are the best. Since moving to Manhattan where walking is more the norm than driving you really need comfortable shoes. I love Merrell in general and have walked many city blocks in their sandals as well but these are so soft, comfortable and lightweight you won't find a better quality shoe out there. The tops are supple leather and they also have nice arch support. Some might think pricey, but you truly get what you pay for with these! And really, aren't you worth it????

Merrell is making nice additions to the array of barefoot shoes currently available, and these are probably the best style I've found to actually work as work boots (I am a paramedic). However, their shoes are made for longer and narrower feet than mine. I did order a half size bigger than my normal size (my normal is 5.5, I bought 6) and they were still too narrow, and the strap didn't have a prayer of closing. This required some ingenuity on my part: a shoe stretcher to widen the shoes and I had to significantly alter the strap. I unattached it from the bottom of the shoe, put in a regular black shoelace for the lower part of the shoe, then shortened the grey straps and re-sewed them so it is now a single strap and latch across the ankle. The right shoe needs a bit more stretching before it fits completely, but I'm keeping my fingers cross this will work out.
It WOULD be VERY nice if Merrell could make a shoe very similar in style to this (but in a wide foot) that also incorporate a composite safety toe. My only option at the moment to stay in barefoot style shoes is to wear a set of Oshatoes over these, and that's not an entirely ideal solution. That's probably a pipe dream, though, as i don't think any of the barefoot shoe makers have even started to think in that direction.

I really loved these shoes when I got them. They may look a bit like wrestling shoes, but they were comfortable*. Fit is the same as other merrels... except for one problem, on my right foot (which is slightly larger than my left), the knuckle (bone before my big toe) is smashed at the seam on the shoe. I thought it wasn't too bad, but after wearing them regularly for a week or so it began to cause some serious pain. I stopped wearing the shoes for a month in hopes that I could then go back and wear them now and then as long as I didn't wear the regularly, but now as soon as I put them on my foot is in serious pain, and if I wear them for more than 10 minutes it continues for the rest of the day. If it was not for that one seam these would be my go to shoes for everything from work to hiking. I do have larger feet, size 10 (according to my slightly larger foot, the right one),. but I've never had a problem with a size 10 fitting my foot in a painful way like this, and I do not have a particular bony knobby foot either. So my suggestion, if you get these and feel pressure on one of your feet where the seam is, return the right away, it will not get better, only substantially worse. My only other complaint is that I would have liked the laces on these to be a bit longer, this is only because I like my shoes to be pretty loose, they weren't tight or anything, but I would have liked a little more room so that I could make it so the shoe felt more like a slipper (whcih it really does, especially if you do not attach the top lace

I cannot get enough of these booties, they are so comfortable and feel great on my feet. Lots of room for my widespread toes and nice and light for walking. No sore feet after wearing them all day, never had to break them in, they fit perfectly from the start.
