These are by far the most expensive shoes I have ever bought and I do not regret it. The fit is perfect and I feel great going out in them. I keep shoe trees in them when not in use and get them polished every few weeks. I had a date recently say "I really like that you are wearing big boy shoes. Most guys don't care about their feet."
I have the brown and have worn them with jeans and also with a grey suit. I think this shade of brown looks great with a dark grey suit and the Allen Edmonds website even suggests wearing brown with a grey suit.
Next year I will probably order another pair in black.

A very dressy (mine is in black) winter shoe that is comfortable and well made and looks like it will hold up very well. I found that the 11B was more narrow than their other shoes (I have several models in that size). I ended up going with the 11-D and it fits fine. Got a good deal at the factory store. Allen Edmonds is known for making some of the best men's shoes on the market. I have owned more than one pair in my lifetime and some are over 20 years old and still look new. So if you decide to invest in this shoe, be prepared to keep it a long time.Some notes:
1. The workmans ship is second to none. Fine boot leather, supple and line and quality stitched. It is as well designed as some of their shoes costing a hundred dollars more.
2. I agree with one of the comments that it runs on the narrow side. I am an 11 D and bought the 11 E which fit perfectly.
3. The sole is a solid synthetic. I thought I would be disappointed for it not being leather but surprisingly I like it better. It cushions your stride and makes this boot extraordinarily comfortable. I walk, in my job about 5 miles per day and find these boots comfortable all day. This is unusual for a dress shoe. I have had to resort to Dansko's for most of my life. While Dansko clogs are comfortable to stand in, they are not built for walking and the appearance ism shall we say ,shy of professional.
4. The classic design of this boot allows it to be worn with jeans or dressed up with shirt and tie.
I would give it 5 stars.

True to size. Rubber sole gives you a confident step, even in the rain. Collar up to the ankle. Three eyelets. Simple. No fancy designs. Will polish up nicely and go with a business suit. Or can be worn with jeans or khakis. Allen Edmonds quality. Can be recrafted.When I had more hair on head, they used to issue shoes like this in the police academy. We had to wear them for everything. So if we just came back from running, we still had to polish them for uniform inspection. Once you hit the street, most guys would go to a duty boot. But some guys keep wearing these three eyelet shoes their entire career.
I first bought these out of nostalgia for the simple shoe I had back then. But they have evolved into a pair of "go to" shoes that I can wear every day. I can tell you that they are comfortable on my feet all day long. With these shoes, a guy does not have to carry around extras in his "war bag". You can wear these with a suit for court in the morning, then right into uniform for your patrol shift, and with your jeans for bar crawling after work.
