The construction of the show seems pretty durable. The sole and leather seem to be sewn and glued together well. I'm curious to see which wears out first. It looks somewhat large when wearing it, which isn't good or bad, just a thing. There is a tuff of wool where the heel of your foot would ordinarily rub, which is a nice addition. When I wear dressier shoes in this style, i end up with raw skin or blisters after a few hours, regardless brand, sizing, socks, etc. In contrast, these have been a joy to wear.
The odd thing is that these shoes have very little padding in the sole. Despite this, they are still comfortable to wear around the house and office (though I may rescind that if I had to walk around for several hours straight). There is also no lining in the main body of the shoe. Despite this, I've been wearing them outside this winter and have yet to get cold feet.
While I do like these, I only bought them because they were at a very good price. I do recommend them, just not at retail prices.

I got these boots in black for 70% off. For 40 bucks, these shoes were a steal. They look great and are pretty comfortable. Size runs a little big, but shouldn't be too bad. There is only wool lining towards the back of the heel, so it would've been better if the whole inside had wool lining, but oh well.Best Deals for EMU Australia Men's Winston Lace-Up Boot
Very poor shoe, even for $40.1) There is a TINY bit of lining on the back of the shoe, and the rest of the shoe is uncomfortable and cold material w/ no lining or insulation.
2) Runs a good size larger, I'm a 12.5-13 and the 13's are very big.
3) Made in China. I don't care, but with all the family owned and manufactured and cared for aussie hoopla, you think they would atleast be made there.
Honest reviews on EMU Australia Men's Winston Lace-Up Boot
WARNING: As many other reviewers have stated these do indeed run BIG! Hehe After reading the mixed reviews on this particular model known as the EMU Australia Winston style boot I just had to give it a wing, I had a chance to grab a pair at super low close-out pricing like many of the other reviewers here and just had to give them a run-down for the money!Well first and foremost to echo my opening, and as others have stated, do order a ½ size down if you decide to add the Winston to your boot collection. I'm a solid 11 1/2 12 sizing in most manufacturers and the size 11 on the Winston has plenty of toe room left! Hehe The exception here is I wear a size 11 in most Clarks and BORN shoe manufacturer, so if that helps anybody, but these do run on the large size as many others have clearly stated.
Secondly (Well the negs first), Hehe as others also stated, these are indeed a stiff ride, the reason here is it appears there an absence of a structural flexible mid-sole, as far as I can tell anyways. The outsole appears to be of a firm gum type material impregnated with cork combined with a thin mid-sole layer of cork atop a rather firm rubberized (removable) insole. The whole affair equals a very firm but very stiff ride overall, but as another reviewer stated, hey, it's a boot man! Hehe
The EMU Winston to me feels very low to the ground and accents the "minimal" feel aspect especially for a boot, but don't want to throw that one around to heavily, but has a very sensitive low to the ground road feel overall in any case. It may be a little to firm for the average perhaps or those seeking accented cushion in overall shoe-sole structure held as priority key.
More on the positive ends of things, I kind of expected a low-quality material makeup considering the low sale price offering, but much to my surprise the material used in the Winston and also the factory build is pretty high level scale, the upper is of extreme quality both in the exterior and interior combined, although the laces are not to my particular liking or taste and much too thin in structure, but that's changeable and perhaps maybe also personalized specific status. The factory build control format also seems top-level and build quality would indicate going the extended wear longevity.
While although the EMU Winston model boot is not the most comfortable foot aid I've ever slid on my narrow feet out of the box, there is something rather well, unique to them, and also a rather good looking stylish shoe with a particular allure all unto itself, placing it in a class in which separates it from the well, average or norm and feel like another reviewer has stated, once broken in, just might be your best friend all at a bargain entwined price exchange, and while putting it all together, I rate the EMU Winston style boot a solid 3.5 star score!
